ALBUM REVIEW

Artist: Pink
Album: Funhouse
Exec. Producer: Pink
Label: LaFace
Release Date: October 28, 2008

After a separation with Carey Hart (one of my Favorite FMX Riders). Pink has licked her wounds and is able to conjure a 5th album to add to her already sterling repertoire. This album is chock full of upbeat, rock infused, ballads and the single "So What". But then again this is Pink one of the many radio-friendly pop queens whose songwriting skills are genuine especially if you have EG Walker, Billy Mann, and Butch Walker wiping you down in your corner.

The lead single "So What" is a track that caught my attention but unfortunately in the wrong way. The Production is driving and dope and all but with most pop songs the talk about hanging with celebrities and being a "rock star" is all but repetitive but hey every album has to have a single that catches the appeal of the masses no matter how fickle minded right?

Tracks like "Bad Influence", do little to make up for the pace of this album in which she speaks of her hard partying ways which is something most can relate to well at least if your last name is Spears, or Hilton, of Lohan.

Ballads like "I Don't Believe You", "It's All Your Fault" and "Mean" totally threw me off. I was trying to figure out whether I was listening to a Pink album or a Pink album written by a bunch of washed up country songwriters. I've truly had enough of the sad love song vibe. I listen to enough R&B.

A positive note is the track "One Foot Wrong" the track that she sung over had a really chill vibe but that unfortunately is about all that truly caught my attention. I really didn't feel her presence and the only time I truly felt her is when she strains to hit those high notes in the main chorus. And when I say strain that is not an understatement.

Overall the pace of this album was all over the place. I understood this means well but at the same time I'm trying to figure out what she's about still. Her four previous albums were straightforward and to the point but this left me with a questioned look on my face. I suggest you just stream it from the site instead of buying more recycled pop music.

This album is like Fire Island after Labour Day... OVER.
